Privacy
This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and has no advertising, no accounts and no login. It does not know who you are, and it is not built to find out.
Most privacy policies are long because the site has a lot to disclose. This one is short for the opposite reason, and everything below was checked against the actual build rather than described from intention.
No cookies, and therefore no cookie banner
The site never writes a cookie. That is why you were not asked to accept any — a consent banner for cookies that do not exist would be theatre, and an irritating piece of it.
The one thing stored on your device
If you use the light/dark toggle, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under a single key namedtheme. It holds one word: light ordark.
It never leaves your device and is never sent to us or to anyone else. Clearing your browser storage removes it, and the site then follows whatever your operating system prefers.
No analytics and no tracking
There is no Google Analytics, no tag manager, no pixel, no heatmap recorder and no advertising network. No page on this site loads any external script, stylesheet, font or image. Nothing follows you here and nothing follows you away.
Search runs on your own machine
The search on this site is built into the pages themselves. When you type a query it is matched against an index your browser has already downloaded — the words you search for are not transmitted anywhere and we could not read them if we wanted to.
The map is the one exception
The Global Map draws its background map fromOpenStreetMap, a non-profit mapping project. Loading those tiles means your IP address and the area of the map you are looking at are visible to OpenStreetMap's servers, undertheir privacy policy.
This happens only on the map page. Every other page on the site is served entirely from this domain. We flag it because it is the single place where visiting this site tells a third party anything at all.
Hosting
The site is static files served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the network requests needed to deliver a page and keeps operational logs for security and abuse prevention. We do not have access to visitor-level analytics from it, and we do not use it to build any profile of readers.
If you email us
The correction and suggestion links on this site open your own mail client addressed to contact@missionsikhism.org. Nothing is submitted through the site — there is no form, and no data reaches us unless you choose to send it.
If you do write, we hold your message and address for as long as it takes to deal with it and to credit a contribution. We do not add you to any list, because there isn't one. Ask us to delete your correspondence and we will.
Children
The site is suitable for all ages and collects nothing from anyone, which includes children.
Your rights
Data protection law — the UK and EU GDPR among others — gives you rights to access, correct and erase personal data held about you. We hold none, unless you have emailed us, in which case it is the email you sent. Write to the address above to exercise any of this.
Changes
If the site ever starts collecting something, this page changes first and says so plainly. Its history is public in the repository, so you can see exactly what it said before.
